The Heart of the Valley YMCA is proud to have been selected for Alabama's nationally recognized First Class Pre-K program for the 2019-2020 school year at all three YMCA Early Childhood Education Centers in Huntsville. Studies show that children who participate in high-quality pre-kindergarten programs are less likely to repeat a grade, require remedial education or be placed in special education. They are also more likely to graduate from high school, go on to college and achieve higher paying salaries as adults!

Enrollment is open to all children four years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2019 who are residents of the state of Alabama. Children who are eligible for kindergarten may not apply. Acceptance into the program is strictly through a random drawing to be held on April 1, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the YMCA Downtown Early Childhood Education Center. Parents and guardians do not need to be present at the drawing. Notices will be emailed beginning April 16.

To enroll their child, parents/guardians must create an account and complete the pregistration process. Copies of the child's birth certificate and proof of residence are required and may be uploaded via the preregistration portal. Upon enrollment, the child's immunization record must be provided in order to participate. There is no registration fee for the program.
