Southeast Regional Y Staff Gather for Emerging Multicultural Leadership Experience

YMCA staff from across the southeast participated in the Emerging Multicultural Leadership Experience in Huntsville or April 4, 2019.

Heart of the Valley YMCA hosted 100 YMCA professionals for the 2019 YMCA Regional EMLE on April 4, 2019 at the Redstone Federal Credit Union Atrium. Co-hosts were YMCA of Greater Montgomery, YMCA of Greater Birmingham, YMCA of Selma-Dallas County and the YMCA of Middle Tennessee. EMLE is a professional development opportunity that celebrates and supports the Y’s next generation of multicultural leaders through networking and mentoring opportunities, educational presentations and resources that inspire staff to deepen their commitment to a career in the Y. Esteemed speakers included Ginger Harper, Senior Vice President, iBERIABANK; Dr. Karockas Watkins, CEO Ability Plus and Heart of the Valley YMCA Board Member; Loucious Hires, Director of Diversity and Equal Opportunity, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and YMCA Board Member; Sonnie Hereford IV, Software Engineer for Insight Global at Northrop Grumman Corporation and the firstt black student to integrate the Alabama Public School System; Dana Gillis, Senior Facilitator and Certified Executive Coach, Transcend, The Fearless Company; Beth Richardson, Madison Market President, Progress Bank; Frank Williams, Owner, Landers McLarty Subaru/Jeep/Dodge Chrysler/Ram; David Fernandes, President, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama; Lien Moore, Branch Manager, NASA Marshall Flight Center; and YMCA professionals Emily Holthaus, Rico X, Leonard Speed and Jessica Rojas.
