We at Heart of the Valley YMCA know that you have questions during this unusual and challenging time. We've tried to cover a few of the most frequently asked below, but if you don't see the info you're looking for here, call your branch or send a message using our contact form below!

We are also updating our COVID-19 info page daily at https://www.ymcahuntsville.org/coronavirus-update/.

Is the Y open?

No, the Y is not open for fitness activities, swimming, indoor walking or classes. We are transitioning to care for the children of essential workers at this time to include medical personnel, crisis response teams, pharmacists, grocery workers and first responders!

You can also take your favorite group exercise classes online! We have 80+ streaming workouts from gentle yoga to HIIT to groove. We will be adding more weekly, too. Find your next class or fitness challenge at https://www.ymcahuntsville.org/work-out-at-home/.

Can I put my membership on hold for now?

Yes you can! Click here to go to our membership options page. We look forward to seeing you back, so just call or come by when we've put this pandemic behind us.
But if you would like to support your community by remaining a member, please read on.

I do not want my membership fees to stop, I want to support the Y. What are you doing with the money?

Wow, thank you!! Your support will ensure that you have a part in serving our community's most vital and pressing needs. Currently, the Y is making child care available to essential workers including medical personnel and first responders because we anticipate that there will be a great need for this. We want for our medical professionals on the front lines to be able to do their jobs without having to worry if their children are in a safe space and cared for. We want our grocery store workers to be able to keep our community fed. We will be expanding services as they are needed to serve our community, but we also want to be able to provide wages to our staff who are working to provide child care.

Why don't you just put every membership on hold?

We have heard from many members that they do want to continue supporting the Y during this time, and we are grateful! We understand not everyone can do that and absolutely respect each family's or individual's decision.

What are you doing to keep members safe at the Y?

Thanks for reaching out and sharing your concerns, because we are concerned, too. We recently announced our decision to close our branches for fitness activities, programs and classes for the time being in an effort to support social distancing precautions and help limit the spread of COVID-19.

At this time, we are choosing to serve our community in the best ways we can. We are sensitive to the social needs of our members, and we are looking for ways to serve our senior members to help lessen the impact of social isolation during this time, too.

We are constantly reviewing new information about the outbreak as it becomes available and will follow any new guidelines by state and local health departments. Visit our web page for COVID-19 links and info at https://www.ymcahuntsville.org/coronavirus-update/.
